Set beside the stunningly beautiful Vembanad Lake, Gokulam Grand’s architecture, inspired by the area’s tropical climate, rises organically from the exquisitely landscaped earth. Featuring cottages villas and utility areas with sloping roofs and colors that blend into the lush foliage.
Arrive, be welcomed in the traditional manner, with garlands and an organic welcome drink. The resort’s open ended lobby showcases exquisitely designed wooden pillars, a wood paneled roof, traditional brass lamps and plush sofas.
Stone paved pathways lead out from the lobby, branching towards the accommodations on one end and towards the restaurant, bar and spa at the other. Little canals drawing sustenance from the backwaters wind through grounds towards a large pond beside the lake shore. Small bridges cure over the canals and tertiary pathways fringed by leafy and flowering plants extending to form a network between rows of accommodations. A centerpiece is the meandering pool with islets topped by ornamental plants that weaves between rows of pool rooms on either end. Moving further towards the lake, guest are presented with a small amphitheater and a swimming pool with a deck and poolside bar overlooking the lake. On one end, a set of rooms are arrayed facing the lake. The paths from the lobby skirt the pool and connect to a walk way set beside the lake shore.
The lake, is for most part, placid, dulcet waves lap her shores. Gimlet eyed birds and butterflies afloat on eddies, gurgling fish rise to the surface. Her moods change with a twist in the breeze. The horizon, seemingly eternal, beckons. Myths and legends, hang, suspended between the past, present and the future.
